About the Tasmanian Art Award

TASMANIAN ART AWARD at Eskleigh was conceived as a competition, exhibition, and sale of works. The format was designed to facilitate the public’s exposure to the work of artists and to reward their efforts with cash prizes and the announcement of annual award for excellence decided by a panel of independent judges.

The inaugural exhibition was held in May 1992 and won by Carol Dell (Reynolds), of Launceston, for her oil painting titled View with a Red Roof. This work was acquired by Eskleigh and marked the start of the Eskleigh Art Collection. Since its inception,
the Eskleigh Art Collection has grown to 24 works, independently valued at $110,000.

All proceeds benefit the Eskleigh residents.

Funds raised from this years exhibition will be used to purchase a new purpose built wheelchair bus which will increase the Community Access program for Eskleigh residents and clients.
