VOLUNTEERING: The Eskleigh Experience |
Eskleigh Foundation is a non-profit charitable body who provides care for younger disabled persons in contemporary group homes in Tasmania.
Group homes are at Perth, Longford and Kings Meadows in the North, and at Montrose and Mornington in the South, along with the Eskleigh Home nursing facility at Perth.
We are primarily funded by grants from Disability Services and assistance provided from donations, fund-raising and various other benefactors.
Our residents are cared for, particularly at the nursing facility at Perth, by a dedicated group of nurses and extended care assistants who provide ongoing medical and personal support.
In addition to the nursing staff, a group of trained Leisure & Lifestyle Coordinators assist residents with their daily living activities to ensure that they are provided with an independent lifestyle.
To assist the Leisure & Lifestyle team, Eskleigh relies heavily on a dedicated group of volunteers who, in their own time, assist with residents' activities. Some of the activities include social outings, personal grooming, musical soirees, craft and cooking days.
Without the assistance of our wonderful volunteers many residents wouldn't be able to be involved in their favourite past-times.

Our volunteers can also be found out and about in the local community helping with fund-raising activities. Quite often they are the ones with the brilliant ideas!
We consider our volunteers to be members of our Eskleigh family, and we train them in all aspects of client care and support and involve them in the Eskleigh Occupational Health & Safety program.
