General Information

The $6000 TASMANIAN ART AWARD at Eskleigh is an art competition, exhibition and sale of works. Public exposure of artists’ works and rewards for excellence are made possible using Eskleigh’s facilities along with substantial sponsorship from the Tasmanian business community. A panel of experts will judge the entries and cash prizes will be awarded:

  • A $6000 Acquisitive Award for the winning entry which then becomes the property of Eskleigh and is added to the Eskleigh Collection.
  • A $1500 prize for excellence in watercolour.
  • A $1500 prize for sculpture.
  • Two $1500 Judges’ Commendation Prizes.
  • A $500 prize for the most popular entry as voted by visitors to the exhibition.

The Exhibition will be at Eskleigh, Perth, in the main reception rooms of the former Gibson family homestead “Scone”, itself  a valued architectural and artistic masterpiece, with its elaborate structure and frescoed ceilings. Sculpture will be exhibited in designated areas of the house.

Works will be offered first for sale by tender to invited guests at a Preview Evening on Friday 8th April 2011 and then, at the marked retail price, to the public from Saturday 9th to Sunday 17th of April 2011.

Donations above the marked retail price will be retained by Eskleigh and commission deducted from the sale price.

Eskleigh is a charitable organisation that provides accommodation and care throughout Tasmania for adults with disabilities. The Tasmanian Art Award is designed to promote the work of Eskleigh by raising public interest and appreciation of Eskleigh’s work in the community.
